The Zero Waste movement has been gaining in popularity and momentum lately. I, for one, am grateful for it. If you aren’t already familiar, Zero Waste is an offshoot of the environmental movement which encourages people to only consume what they can use, to fully use what they consume, and to avoid plastic and other non-biodegradable materials as much as possible.
Modern civilization, as most of us know it, produces a lot of waste. I am an American, and Americans are definitely leading contributors to this problem, but it’s happening all over the world. In fact, I tend to see it most in second and third world locales where Westerners have infringed just enough to totally f*ck up the local culture with our ‘convenience’ goods and process...
I spend a lot of time in the kitchen. In fact, it’s one of my ‘happy places’. Preparing delicious and healthy meals for my family and friends is one of my love languages. (Check my Instagram account if you don’t believe me.) It should also be noted that I am a fan of efficiency … in all areas of life, but especially in the kitchen. So, it should come as no surprise that I have developed a line up of tools that make my time in the kitchen the most joyful and efficient it can be. Now, it is true that none of these tools are absolutely necessary. You can prepare food without them, and I have, on many occasions. But they are on this list because they make kitchen work infinitely more enjoyable for me.
Hello beautiful creatures! So, here in the Southern United States, we're finally starting to see the sun again. It's beginning to warm up outside and the produce stands are already showing hints of the bounty to come. In the spirit of celebrating the return of the sun (after So Much Rain!), I am sharing one of my favorite warm weather recipes with you here on the blog. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
