Human Design

Getting to know your human design begins with procuring a bodygraph, or chart. This is similar to one's natal chart in astrology in that it uses your birth information (date, time, location) to determine what was happening in the cosmos at your creation. This determines your own unique blueprint for your expression in this life. A bodygraph generates your mind/personality (conscious) map as well as your body/design (unconscious) map. They are then merged into one whole picture represented by the bodygraph.

One of the first things people learn in Human Design is their Type. Type is a very general category, and is not intended to be definitive or restrictive. However, it can help to provide understanding of our energy needs as well as how we divide our attention and how we function as individuals within collectives, or for what roles we are likely best suited. The Types are: Manifestors, Generators, Manifesting Generators, Projectors and Reflectors.

The Profile provides information on how we are designed to move through the world, most specifically, it speaks to the special flavor we add to the fulfillment of our primary purpose in this life. Profiles consist of two numbers between 1-6 separated by a slash. (ie: 6/2) Folks whose profiles have the smaller number in the front are designed with a primary life lesson/purpose that is individual, or personal. Those with a larger number in front are said to have a transpersonal mission in which they will have some kind of engagement with others in order to manifest their designated destiny. The one exemption is the 4/1 profile. This is considered a fixed fate in this life that requires no active attempts at expansion or evolution.

The Human Design system is an intricate and complex one. It is intended to be lived rather than passively studied. As such, it can be incredibly helpful to have an experienced guide help you 'read' or understand your blueprint. However, blueprints are created on paper, and not stone, for a reason: They are open to re-interpretation as the building process unfolds. So, too, our designs are meant to be experimented with and tweaked as we go. It is definitely an experiment in bliss. When you find the way that feels best for you to express your design in the world, life becomes blissful and easeful and in flow.
