The Aries New Moon comes to call on Saturday, 03.29, at 6:58a (EDT). She does so at 9° Aries. This is the closing eclipse of the vernal eclipse portal, and a great opportunity to put some conscious direction behind that energetic bottleneck that the eclipse is here to break up for you.
Aries is the first sign of the Zodiac. It’s Cardinal Fire. Ruled by Mars, God of War. Mars is initiatory, bold, motivational, independent, confident, and impulsive. However, at the time of this New Moon, Mars is in His fall in the sign of Cancer. This gives Him a softer, more compassionate approach to motivation and action. Keep this in mind while you consider how to push this post-eclipse flow through the landscapes of your daily life.
New Moons are always opportunities for new beginnings. They create a blank slate upon which you can create whatever words, numbers, or images feel good for you. And with this being a North Node Solar Eclipse to boot, the ‘fresh start’ energy is even stronger. North Node Solar Eclipses bring with them opportunities to step outside your comfort zone; to find a new path toward your destiny that will help you break away from the old mold that’s been holding you so you can find a new form that feels more comfortable to the person you are becoming. North Node energy has a destiny quality to it. It speaks the language of potentials.

The Sabian Symbol of this lunation is A Teacher Gives New Symbolic Forms To Traditional images. This is clearly an opportunity to start writing a new story for yourself. Find a language that speaks to what’s next for you. Release the vocabulary of what was. It’s no longer relevant. And don’t be afraid to create your own language. Even if it’s never been uttered before, if it’s authentic for you, people will be able to make sense of it.
There’s a concentration of planetary energy starting in the back half of PIsces and moving throughout Aries. This signifies a strong emphasis on endings and beginnings. This echoes the magick of the eclipse portal, for eclipses are simply amplified energy geared toward closing out something old in order to welcome in something new.
There’s a T-Square to Mars at this New Moon in Aries. T-Squares are very active aspect patterns. They instigate movement and action. The opposition of the T-Square is fueled by Chiron (Aries) and Black Moon Lilith (Libra) which can bring up a lot of wounds and resentments, particularly in the relationship arena. Mars (Cancer) is your answer for reconciling them. Be active in addressing these things. Be proactive, even, by addressing them before they are flooding you with emotion. But temper your actions with compassion in grace. (It’s Mars, but it’s Mars in Cancer, remember?)
Uranus (Taurus) is still sitting at the apex of a Minor Triangle with Mars and the Pisces/Aries stellium. You must be willing to slow your roll and strategically consider all the pieces on the playing board in order to use your emotional intelligence to your benefit. Allow your thoughts to play outside the proverbial box and you’re likely to find innovative solutions to practical problems.
There’s also a Yod to Black Moon Lilith (Libra) at play during this lunation. A Yod will pretty much always have a feeling of destiny attached to it. (It’s also called a ‘finger of god’.) The focus here is on Lilith. She is in Libra, so Her rebellions, resentments, and reclamations are most likely to surface in the realms of relationships, resources, balance, and beauty. The Yod is propped up by Saturn (Pisces) and Uranus (Taurus), so expect some new responses to old tests and challenges. Use it all as a catalyst to bring more equity to the table.
At this Aries New Moon—and throughout the lunar cycle— you are invited to give voice to your resentments. You’re invited to confidently, but compassionately, express your needs and your boundaries in every relationship that matters. Learning to be assertive while also remaining loving is a great skill. This is an auspicious time to start honing it. Dont’ be afraid to find new ways to express yourself. Sometimes that’s the only way to get heard.
We are approaching the exit ramp from the turbulent flight of the eclipse portal, friends. You’ve made it this far safely. Now do what you can to maintain your comportment during landing and disembarkment. You might still feel a little shaky for the next week and a half or so, as we move out of the shadow of the eclipse, but then things should lighten up, giving you the clarity you need to see where you’ve actually landed.
