It’s the First Quarter Moon phase, friends! It comes to us today at 11:32a (EST) at 16° Gemini. Gemini Moons tend to be very social, chatty, and curious. And with Jupiter sidled up next to La Luna, this gets magnified.
Gemini is Mutable Air energy. It’s quick, changeable, and sharp. Gemini is skilled at seeing all sides of things. They have the ability to shift and pivot their perspective and to adjust their minds in order to consider conflicting evidence to already established thoughts and ideas. As mentioned already, this is very social energy. Gemini is fast; mercurial. It’s quick-witted and very curious. If they stay in one place or focused on one thought for too long, Gemini can get very bored. They like movement.
At the First Quarter phase, the Moon is deep in Her waxing phase. She is growing, expanding and opening Herself up to the external world. This is a time of action; building toward your goals in order to make them a reality by the phase of Fullness. This is a time to build your own momentum with the support of the growing light to guide you in your efforts.
The Sabian Symbol for this lunation is The Head Of A Robust Youth Changes Into That Of A Mature Thinker. To me, this indicates an opportunity for evolution and maturation. And with the Moon squaring Saturn (as it conjuncts the Sun), this fits. It’s time to get serious about how we view and interpret what’s going on around us. This doesn’t mean we have to button down completely and become a stodgy old professor type with no sense of humor. Hardly. Gemini can mature and still retain their exuberance and joy. This is just an opportunity to elevate your mental faculties from the reactionary egoic level to a more refined, elegant expression of wisdom.
There’s a stellium over in the tail end of PIsces that spills over into Aries. This could bring some aggression, illusion, or even just a fired-up sense of righteousness into the arena under this Moon. This is especially true since all that energy is opposing Black Moon Lilith, super sassy wild woman of the zodiac. You might feel like your skin crawling a bit, like you’re literally feeling yourself growing into that more high-minded version of yourself.
BML has a very prominent place in this chart. She is the focal point of all that is happening … it’s almost like she’s in the puppet-master position, making aspects to nearly every other player on the stage. If you feel your righteous anger rising, know that it’s okay. It’s natural to have emotional responses to things that feel painful. (And, at the moment there is a lot that feels painful in this world for a lot of people.) They key is in learning to harness this riotous energy in productive ways that support your own transformation and empowerment, rather than leading to blind destruction of you and everything in your path.
Mars is squaring Chiron (with an activation to the stellium that is weak, but still there). You may feel some growing pains during this evolutionary moment. But you may also discover that you have the necessary balms and salves to heal whatever wounds are inflicted. You may even find that it’s your relationship with your painful triggers that are helping to motivate you toward this maturation. After all, simply lashing out when your bruises are poked does nothing to heal them. This is your chance to learn how to take that pain as a signal that something needs to change, and to realize that you are the only one that can change it. This is what wisdom is, really. It’s learning that you cannot really ever change anyone else. You can only change yourself. And the only way to change the world is to be a living example of what you want the world to be.
