Tomorrow’s Last Quarter Moon takes the stage at 2:05p (EDT) at 2° Cancer. The Sabian Symbol for this lunation is An Arctic Explorer Leads A Reindeer Through Icy Canyons.
At the Last Quarter phase we are halfway through the waning half of the cycle. Things are winding down. The dust from all the ‘doing’ during the waxing half is beginning to settle. This is a time to look around at what remains. What was created/manifested/expressed/experienced by the light of the Full Moon? How do you feel about it? What went well? What didn’t? What have you learned?
It’s a chance to let loose the drone to get the panoramic view of things. By seeing things from this perspective, you can better understand where the pitfalls and dangers lie. This knowledge is extremely helpful when navigating that tricky terrain in the future. Imagine leading that reindeer through the icy landscape without that knowledge! It would be way more treacherous for everyone involved! This is how wisdom is gained—and steady progress is maintained. There must be a review period at the end of each leg of the journey.
This can be especially helpful during this particular waning Moon period, as we are traveling from one eclipse to the next. (Next week’s New Moon in Libra will bring the Solar Eclipse that closes the eclipse portal.) Taking inventory now could help ease the turbulence of the closing eclipse, making it easier to course-correct as needed.
The Moon is domicile in Cancer at this phase. This gives Her a little extra sass and power over Her natural themes. This brings an ease to feeling feelings, nurturing (self and others), nesting, and getting introspective (especially as relates to what we hold foundationally true and relevant).
A square with Mercury prods active inquiry for those wise enough to actually seek for the lessons here. As mentioned in previous posts, eclipses offer recalibration and realignment. In order for that to happen one must actually engage with the pain points that are the indicators of misalignment. Mercury’s mental acuity with Moon’s emotional intelligence are just the tools necessary to do this job effectively.
An inconjunct with Pluto—still retrograde and anxious to fulfill its own ambitions via good old masculine force in the anaretic degree of Capricorn—might make it difficult to see how powerful and transformative this process can be. But Venus is there to encourage trust and patience. Try to enjoy the process as best you can. A little glamour can go a long way to making difficult times seem a little more bearable.
Neptune’s also in the mix. Dare to dream big! Let your feelings guide you! Go to your go-to spiritual practices when you feel wobbly. Otherwise you risk falling into old escapist distraction actions that never serve you very well. Keep your wits about you and all should be well.
The most important thing to remember at this Last Quarter Moon in Cancer, IMO, is to give yourself the dedicated time and space to actually look around—reflect, review, take in the details, but also dial out to the broader view—in order to gain that wisdom that will allow you to safely maneuver through those icy canyons. Emotional responses are welcomed here. They’re the guideposts in the ground.
You’ve got this, darlings. xoxo 💋
