Last Quarter Moon in Capricorn: Tensions Are Mounting

The Last Quarter Moon comes to call tomorrow at 7:30a (EDT) at 2° Capricorn. This lunation marks the midpoint of the current eclipse season, and it follows closely in the wake of the Vernal Equinox, so there are themes of balance and tipping points offering influence here. 

Last Quarter Moons are the midpoint of the waning half of the lunar cycle. This is the time to gaze inward; to reflect on what came to pass at the Full Moon. It’s a great time to get some valuable insight on the dividends being paid by actions taken during the active waxing half of the cycle. It’s also a great time to really feel into the experience of whatever it was you manifested (or didn’t, as the case may be). Celebrate and/or wallow. But give yourself permission to consciously experience and integrate it all.

With Capricorn helming the ship, there may be a tendency to focus a little too much on the failures. Capricorn has some serious perfectionistic leanings. But it’s also ambitious, structured, and goal-oriented. So, use this time to assess where you are and where you want to go next. Capricorn may just illuminate what you need to do differently next time. 

The Sabian Symbol for this lunation is The Human Soul, In Its Eagerness For New Experiences, Seeks Embodiment. This feels like an eerily apropos representation of this eclipse season’s energy. Also, a good reminder that this life was chosen by each of us. It was meant to be an exciting opportunity to simply experience all the trials and triumphs of being a human being in a mortal body walking this earthly plane. Every experience is valuable, because there is something new to learn from each one. As one chapter comes to a close (as is being prompted by the opening eclipse last week), new chapters are given license to begin (as will be initiated with next week’s closing eclipse). This life is a physical expression. Balancing the body’s experiences with the mind’s will help to make the most of whatever’s on offer at the moment.

Neptune is the sole dispositor of this lunation’s chart. This means there will be a Neptunian filter placed over every other archetype and expression here. It’s also still in the anaretic degree of Pisces, which adds an urgency to all that Piscean business of working through the checks and balances. Things might feel a little more nebulous, illusory, and watery, so maybe don’t try too hard to pin things down to their minute details. Just let it all flow around you and take in the broad strokes. The picture will reveal itself to you in divine timing. 

We continue to experience a pile-up of celestial activity in the tail end of Pisces and the early degrees of Aries. Lots of endings and beginnings in process. 

And Mercury and Venus are both still retrograde in Aries. Remember, the gift of retrogrades is revealed when you look inward at your own internal influences. Retrogrades are not about your external circumstances. They are about how you’re reacting to them internally. There is gold to be mined here. Turn your awareness to the way you are expressing yourself and tending to your own needs right now. Is everything aligned? Can something be tweaked in order to better serve your wholeness?

All in all, this may feel like a tense time. You may feel the desire for change, but at a loss as to how and/or where to pivot. (That’s the Neptune influence.) Don’t get too critical with yourself for not having all the answers. They are coming. You’re in process. It’s the midpoint of the eclipse portal. You’re just reaching the peak cooking temperature. In a week you’ll be ready to come out of the oven, but then you’ll still have a little time to finish off the bake with all that internal heat generated from the alchemy of the portal. If it’s uncomfortable, that’s just part of the process. That’s part of the human experience. Your soul is here for it. Ride the wave. I have a feeling it’s going to be delicious.
