Sagittarius Full Moon: Broadened Perspective

It’s time for the Full Moon to once again shine Her sweet light upon us, darlings. Tonight, at 3:44a (EDT), La Luna peaks at 20° Sagittarius.

Sagittarius is often viewed as a fortunate sign. He’s a seeker of Truth, expansive and optimistic. Sagittarius is about the bigger picture. He doesn’t sweat the small stuff. But, I always like to remind people that every sign, every planet, every astrological archetype has a spectrum of expression. They all have potential positive and negative expressions.
The Full phase of the Moon is, of course, a time of manifestation. The energy has been building from the whisper of the New Moon to the mighty yawp of the Full. The waxing phase of perpetually increasing volume has come to its apex. This is a time to see what’s been delivered on that New Moon promise. It’s a time to celebrate the success of what’s been brought into being. (The less successful bits can be mulled over during the waning half of the cycle.) The Full Moon shows us just how powerful we are—that we can make something from nothing simply by setting an intention and taking aligned action. I invite you to give yourself permission to revel in this compelling awareness.

The Sabian Symbol for this Sagittarius Full Moon lunation is A Child And A Dog Wearing Borrowed Eyeglasses. How cute is this imagery? But once I get past the visualisation of this image as a poster in a circa 1986 child’s bedroom, I take from this image a desire to see something more clearly. And that something might be the perspective of another. Sometimes it can be helpful to see through another’s perspective. It’s the whole ‘walk a mile in their shoes’ trope. We can never really know what someone else’s experience is. The best we can do is try to understand where they’re coming from. Get curious. Ask questions. Look at their choices without judgment, but with a desire to discern their circumstances, and to better grasp their reasoning. It is folly to think that your own way of viewing things is the only way. It’s simply your way. And, as such, it may work great for you, but be totally wrong for another. We are not all genetic clones of one another. We are individuals with unique experiences, circumstances, and ways of seeing, processing, and understanding. If we can each act from this place of at least trying to understand the perspectives of others, then the entire world will become a more tolerant and supportive place.
The Gemini-Sagittarius axis is about knowing when to focus on the details and when to scan out to the broad brushstrokes to see the larger picture coming into view. The Sun in Gemini is exerting external energy, focusing on the individual data points. The Moon in Sagittarius is exerting internal energy on the bigger picture. You can see all the things that aren’t working in the world around you. (And, yes, there are many to be found these days.) But this is an opportunity to process that data in a more elevated, sophisticated way. Instead of making harsh snap judgments about the people who are making choices that don’t feel good for you, you can try to see things from a higher viewpoint. Is there any possible way that this ‘negative’ choice might actually lead to something desired? Whether there is or isn’t, is irrelevant here. This is about taking a beat before making your declaring your own judgments and meting out your own punishments to at least consider the possibility of something greater in play. What’s the bigger story? What does that other person know that you might not? What intel could they have that you don’t?
There’s a Grand Fire Trine with the Moon, Mars, and Chiron. While you may feel triggered to take some heated action, it might also feel a little easier to temper that reactivity with some renewed hope. You may find yourself tapping into some long-dormant ability to trust in the divine process at this time. Use this supportive energy to consciously build that trust muscle. Remember the inevitability of divine providence. As Paolo Coelho reminds us in The Alchemist, the Universe is always conspiring to help us achieve what we desire. We just have to get out of our own way and trust it, open to it. This Full Moon is an excellent time to play with this energy.
Jupiter has just made His ingress into Cancer, leaving Gemini where He’s been for just over a year. Jupiter is in HIs detriment in Gemini, but is exalted in Cancer. When in detriment, a planet is uncomfortable and awkward. It has to figure out new ways of expressing itself because its usual methods just don’t land. However, when it’s exalted, it’s in it’s full power and glory. In Cancer, Jupiter will be able to really feel himself. This means that expansive, optimistic, ebullient energy will be flowing with ease and abundance, and we will be the lucky recipients of that magick. (Though you’d do well to look to your natal chart to see how best to work with that energy.)

Jupiter is also cozied up to Mercury here in Cancer. When these two planets come together, they can get a little loquacious. Chatty Cathy would make a great mascot for this pairing. But it’s also a wonderful motivator to open yourself up to those bigger conversations you’ve been putting off for later. With these two teamed up like the Wonder Twins, communication gets elevated; becomes more truthful and potentially more compassionate. You might think of this conjunction adding a rosy tint to those borrowed glasses.
Saturn and Neptune remain in each others’ arms in the early degrees of Aries. We are still settling into these new energies. Do what you can to adjust your systems and structures and to implement regular spiritual practices at this time. It’s a great way to make the transition less jarring.
These two teams—Mercury/Jupiter and Saturn/Neptune—are squaring each other. This square creates a strong impetus to engage with all these energies, even and especially when it feels tense and challenging, in order to break through some of the barriers dividing us. It offers an opportunity to create both personal and collective breakthroughs. Take advantage while you can.
Venus and Pluto are squaring, motivating you to find power in aesthetic beauty, harmony, and collaboration. This is not a ‘power over’ situation. It’s more a power through partnership. We are stronger when we work together. You can transform your reality by transforming our surroundings. You catch more flies with honey than vinegar. Beauty and harmony begets beauty and harmony. Or, in other words, you get what you give … so give something lovely.
Lastly, Mars is in a square with Uranus. You might be tempted to make rash decisions or to react impulsively to circumstances. However, you’ll be better served if you can access your higher intellectual functioning before acting. Use discernment. Consider the broader ramifications of your actions. And be open to some potentially unexpected ripples from whatever actions you do choose.
All in all, this Sagittarean Full Moon feels like a sweetly supportive respite in the shitshow that has been 2025 so far. I hope you are able to reap some of this sweetness in your own life, darlings. xoxo 💋
