The Full Moon 🌕is imminent, friends! La Luna reaches her peak fullness at 2:55a on Friday, 03.14. But this is not your average Full Moon! This is the opening eclipse of the portal! This lunar eclipse Full Moon occurs at 23° Virgo ♍and promises its own unique magick. Are you ready?
Full Moons are moments of culmination and illumination. What did you manage to manifest during this waxing cycle? The Moon is shining her brightest light on your accomplishments (and your failures), so you can clearly see the results of your efforts.
Virgo is Mutable Earth energy. This is the Cosmic Virgin who takes care of others. She is adaptable and practical and efficient. This is highly useful energy when parsing through the products of your labors.
Eclipses are opportunities for karmic recalibration. They occur at Full Moon and New Moon lunations that happen to activate the Lunar Nodes. In this way, they can initiate events and experiences that propel you along your destined path. I sometimes think of them as high-speed portals that give you a shortcut on your evolutionary road. (Kind of like taking the Rainbow Trail or the Gumdrop Pass when playing Candyland.)
Lunar Eclipses are less disruptive than Solar Eclipses, generally speaking. But they can still carry a jolt if they activate a personal planet in your chart. Since they occur during Full Moon times, they initiate culminations, closing up chapters of experience, and sometimes offering karmic payouts as they close a particular ‘account’.
This is a South Node Lunar Eclipse, so it may have a greater sense of finality to it. South Node Lunar Eclipses are about closure and release. What’s ready to be jettisoned from your life at this moment? It’s like you have an opportunity to do some internal house-cleaning and close down a department that has outgrown its usefulness. Time to redistribute the employees, sell off the desks, and shred all the files. Reconcile the accounts. Bring it all back to zero. It’s complete.
The Sabian Symbol for this lunation is Mary and Her White Lamb. This evokes a childlike innocence for me. There’s a nod back to childhood nursery rhymes and the wonder inherent in this phase of life. There’s also a nod to the cooperation and camaraderie that can exist between the least likely of pairs. These two are basically inseparable, but not because they require anything tangible from each other. Rather, they enjoy each other. There is a natural and undiluted mutual trust, respect, and admiration here. It’s a nice reminder that affection is natural and it can come from the most unexpected sources. (Although the rest of the world might try to tear you asunder.)
There’s a lot of energy riding the tails of this eclipse! There’s an entire log jam of planets over on the Sun’s side of the sky. Saturn and Neptune in Pisces with El Sol; Venus and Mercury in Aries. All adding their own flavors to this mystical moment. Saturn makes it a little easier to cut away the ballast. Neptune working either to keep you spiritually fortified during the proceedings, or trying to distract you from the emotionality of the process. Venus—in Her retrograde phase—demanding a little more respect and a little less people-pleasing. Mercury—soon to be retrograde—urging impulsive decisions about it all. Whew! It’s a lot to digest!
Interestingly, the Sun is forming the base (with Uranus) of a Yod to Black Moon Lilith. This can elicit even more rebellious energy at this time. It’s like our repressed parts are staging an uprising and demanding to be expressed/heard/seen no matter how the rest of the world responds. This is a strong reminder that while it can smooth the way to have social consensus, it’s not actually your job to pander to the expectations and preferences of anyone else. Your only mission is to be your authentic whole beautiful and barbaric self.
As the year 2027 approaches (the year that Human Design predicts a massive shift from homogeneity to individuation), this message of self-actualization grows louder and more salient. Dismiss what the world is telling you to be! Be who you are! No apologies! No takebacks!
Mars, still in His fall in Cancer, is squaring Chiron in Aries. You are being asked to look at your identity wounds and to take some supportive action toward healing any shame, blame, and/or guilt around who you are.
