We’ve entered Cancer season, and now follows the Cancer New Moon. This lunation perfects at 6:31a (EDT) on Wednesday, 25 June at 4° Cancer.
New Moons, of course, are [re]starting points. They open the new Moon cycle and present a clean slate on which to write new intentions, goals, and dreams that can be brought to fruition (aka: manifested) during the waxing phase of the cycle.
Cancer is a sign of maternal energy. It is nurturing, protective, intuitive, and receptive. It’s the energy of home and family and belonging.
When the New Moon falls in Cancer we are given a new opportunity to call these energies into our own lives, and to explore what we might need to add, implement, tweak, or release in order to feel safer and more supported.
The Sabian Symbol for this lunation is At A Railroad Crossing, A Car Races With A Train. I interpret this symbol as the Universe challenging us to a game of ‘chicken’. It’s asking us to awaken from complacency and take a risk. Yes, there may be plans set in motion by the ‘powers that be’, but that doesn’t mean we can’t try to get ahead

of them and forge our own path. It’s a chance to practice trusting that we are always protected. The divine guardians are always looking out for us, but sometimes we need to really show up in full presence with the pedal to the medal and all senses fully engaged to show how much we want what we’re asking for..
At this New Moon, there’s a tight conjunction with Jupiter, newly inducted into Cancer, a sign in which it’s exalted. This adds an expansive, optimistic, and big-picture lens to this New Moon energy. Jupiter is often experienced as good fortune. It’s one of the great benefics of Traditional astrology, and is often viewed as lucky. Add to this the fact that the Moon is in Her happy place in Cancer, and this moment could offer some very sweet and supportive magick for whatever you’re calling in.
Saturn and Neptune are still cozied up together in a tight conjunction in the early degrees of Aries. These planets are still becoming accustomed to their costumes in this new sign. (It’s been quite a while since either of them have been here.) Saturn is in its fall in this sign, so His is an ill-fitting costume. These two together, in a square with Sun, Moon, and Jupiter, have the power to bring new dreams into reality. It may also show you where you might need to stop lying to yourself and/or set stronger boundaries to keep yourself and your ideals safe. However this magick shows up for you, it will be difficult to miss it. Saturn and Neptune are also at the apex of a Minor Triangle putting a focal spotlight on these energies.
A T-Square to Chiron points to potent opportunities to [once again] apply salve to those deep core wounds. It’s very supportive energy to transform your victim narratives; to take ownership of your vulnerabilities, the scars you’ve accrued, and the wisdom that comes from the prolonged tending of those wounds.
There are two Yods at this Cancer New Moon: One to Mars and one to Pluto. Transformative action and personal empowerment are the destined promise of successfully navigating all the invitations of this lunation, particularly the T-Square energy.
Lastly, with Mars squaring Uranus (at the anaretic degree of Taurus), you could find yourself being spurred to sudden and surprising action. Be vigilant! Keep your wits about ye! Too rash action could lead to some very disruptive consequences … for good or ill.
There is a lot of potential growth and expansion on offer at this New Moon. But in order to receive the gifts, you must be willing to put a little skin in the game. You must be willing to prove just how much you trust in divine providence. You must be willing own what you want and to go after it. If you do, the Universe is ready to meet you halfway. Drivers: Start your engines …
