Pisces Full Moon North Node Lunar Eclipse

The Moon reaches Her peak of fullness tomorrow, 17 September, at 10:34p (EDT) at 25° Pisces. This is also the opening eclipse in the Autumn/Winter eclipse portal. Hold on to your hats, friends.

The Sabian Symbol for this lunation is A New Moon Reveals That It’s Time For People To Go Ahead With Their Different Projects. Aaaah … a green flag for a fresh start. Let’s hope it brings something good, eh?

As mentioned, this Full Moon marks the official opening of the eclipse portal. (Though, we’ve been under the introductory shadow influence for a minute already.) This eclipse is a Lunar eclipse. This means that the Sun and Moon—in opposition at a Full Moon—are conjunct the Lunar Nodes, also called the Nodal Axis. This conjunction amplifies the energy and influence of the Full Moon and attaches it to our evolutionary growth. If the Full Moon aspects personal planets or angles in your natal chart, you will feel the effects of it on a personal level, if not, you’re more likely to see it play out on the global stage from the safety of your sideline. Look for close aspect orbs or 2° or less in your chart.

(It’s occurring in my 1st and 7th houses, and is loosely activating both my natal Moon and Mercury. While it’s not likely to be super intimate for me, I’m still probably going to feel some of the reverberations.)

At a Lunar Eclipse, the Moon turns a blood red as the Earth passes between the Sun and the Moon. And anyone who’s seen Practical Magic knows that blood on the Moon brings some drama. However, as my astrology teachers say, eclipses are an act of alignment. This is a time when the Sun, Moon, and Earth align in the heavens. Astrologically, it’s an opportunity to realign in our own lives, as well. And just like with chiropractic, weight training, yoga therapy, and other forms of bodywork, the process can sometimes feel awkward, jarring, and/or uncomfortable as it’s happening, but it almost always leaves us feeling better when it’s over.

There is a karmic balancing that happens at eclipses. Since the nodal axis represents a journey from past to future, eclipses provide a proscribed clearing of the old and graduating toward the new. They help you move forward toward the destiny you came here to experience. That growth and progress are beautiful things. It’s helpful to keep them in mind when going through the growing pains that get you there.

This is a North Node Lunar Eclipse, so it has themes of progress and of moving toward that new unknown that is waiting for you. It is said that at a North Node Lunar Eclipse, your primitive instincts will be activated. The rebalancing here is about closing out an old chapter to start writing a new one. It’s only by closing out the old that you can truly open up to the new.

This is an active moment, kiddos! If you look at the chart for this lunation, you’ll see a couple T-Squares, a Yod, a Kite … aspects pushing for action. This adds more layers to the eclipse energy of the moment.

Pisces Full Moon North Node Lunar Eclipse

The Moon is conjunct both Neptune (in domicile) and Saturn (loosely) in Pisces, in addition to its proximity to the North Node. This sets this moment up to be highly emotional with some strict lessons in maturity. This conjunction is the apex of the Kite aspect pattern, emphasizing its importance at this lunation. The Sun is the ‘tail’ of the kite, reminding us our mission is what is driving our experience during this lifetime. It’s time for us to get back in alignment with it. The remaining two points in the Kite are Pluto and Uranus, providing support as you transform and pivot toward the unknown next chapter.

Pluto is also the apex of one of the T-Squares bridging the gap between Chiron and Venus. Relationship wounds might arise at this time. Or you might see how you’ve strayed from your own set of values. Let powerful Pluto help you bridge that gap by reclaiming your power and looking at the difficult shadowy bits. This is where deep transformation happens.

Jupiter is the apex of the other (arguably more important) T-Square, bridging the gap between the Full Moon Eclipse players (and Mercury). Remember the Big Picture! Keep your compass pointed to the Truth! And stay optimistic! This can ease your journey through the rough bits.

A Yod to Venus rounds out the potentially uncomfortable, but likely productive, aspect patterns in this chart. Again, relationships and values come into focus. The foundation of this Yod is the Lunar conjunction sextiling with Uranus. This is the eclipse in action! You are invited to step forward toward the next phase of your life. Should you be brave enough to accept this invitation, you may find at least some of your values and relationships just don’t quite fit right anymore. This is okay. It’s what happens when you grow and evolve. You change. Your values change. Your relationships change. It’s all part of the process. Take your time with it. Explore it all as it unfolds and remember that you are simply being realigned with your cosmic potential. This is something wonderful happening in service of you, not something bad happening to you!

With Mars squaring the nodal axis, action is the order of the moment. All signs point to action! Get busy! Do something! Make a move! Even if you’ve no idea where it will take you! Let the Cosmos handle the destination. Your task is simply to get started.

This Pisces Full Moon North Node Lunar Eclipse is a pivotal time, yes. But it can also be a beautiful one. Embrace what you can. Release what you can. And trust in all of it! Bon chance, friends! xoxo 💋
