Sagittarius New Moon: The Golden-Haired Goddess of Opportunity

The new Moon cycle begins in the wee hours of Sunday morning (1:21a EST) on December 01 when the New Moon arrives at 9° Sagittarius. The Sabian Symbol for this Sagittarius New Moon is A Theatrical Representation of a Golden-Haired Goddess of Opportunity. This is an excellent opportunity to determine whether the inner experience is an authentic match to the outer expression, friends. No matter how glamorous the outside looks, it means nothing if it’s a lie. 

New Moons are always mini moments of resetting the canvas. They are a monthly fresh start, each bringing its own special flavor depending on what sign it’s in, and where it falls in your own natal chart. (To find where this New Moon falls in your chart, look for 9° Sagittarius. The House occupying that degree will indicate the area of your life this lunation’s themes are most likely to affect.)

This cycle is no different. It’s providing you with an opportunity to tune into what you’ve been projecting; what truths you’ve been spouting; and what beliefs are scripting your internal operating system. 

Mercury, fresh in His retrograde station, provides some excellent support for this kind of inquiry. Retrogrades are periods of review and reflection. With Mercury, it’s about taking the time to look at your own internal relationship with Mercurial themes, such as communication, data processing/cognition, your local community, and sibling relationships. It’s not about these themes affecting you from the outside, but how you are engaging with them on a personal level. 

Mercury is also part of a T-Square to Saturn (with Jupiter) emphasizing the need for clear, healthy boundaries. This aspect pattern is here to teach you how to use boundaries in support of speaking your truth authentically and optimistically. 

Speaking of Jupiter, Sagittarius’ ruler is throwing His weight about at this New Moon. He’s in opposition with the Sun/Moon and Mercury. He’s in mutual reception with Mercury (also a major player at this moment), which brings an innate familiarity and collaborative tendency between Jupiter and Mercury despite being diametrically opposed at the moment. Again, this is telling you to get clear on what your truths and beliefs actually are before you go shouting about them to the masses (or to your loved ones). There could be a swelling of emotional expressions at this lunation, or a surfeit of cosmic downloads. However it shows up for you, remember to anchor it all with clear, healthy boundaries. 

Mars opposite Pluto is also asking you to step more fully into your power. It might require some change, so be open to pivots. But if you’re ready to accept this invitation, it’s likely to be a gamechanger. 

Basically, now is the time to tap into your deep beliefs. Engage with your foundational truths. And make sure they are actually YOUR beliefs and truths, and not some old hand-me-downs you received from well-meaning friends, family and/or cultural icons. The only way to make sure you are communicating and acting from your own sacred truths is to ensure that you are clear on what they are. Right now you are cosmically primed for this internal interrogation. Get in there and excavate what isn’t true for you now, and create space for what is.

This Moon cycle you are invited to do some clarity work around the belief systems and stories you are currently looping through your internal operating structures. Run each belief through your Truth-Meter to determine if it feels truly aligned for you in the now. If it does, great! Keep it  in play! If not, it’s time to replace it with something that is.
